• Verification data: a selfie photo submitted during sign-up. This is reviewed manually by a member of our team to confirm it matches your profile photos — we do not use automated facial recognition or AI to process this image
• Communications: messages sent to other users through the app, and any correspondence with our support team
• Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, and subscription status is managed through our billing provider, RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full card details
• Usage and device data: app interactions, log data, device type, and approximate location (if permitted), used to operate and improve the Service

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

• Create and manage your account
• Verify your identity and profile authenticity
• Show your profile to other users and enable matching and messaging
• Process subscription payments
• Keep the Service safe (e.g. detecting fake accounts, investigating reports)
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service
• Improve and develop the Service

4. Our legal basis for processing

We rely on:

• Consent — for profile information you choose to share, including faith/community details, and for the verification selfie
• Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you've signed up to

You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or deleting your account, though this may affect our ability to provide the Service to you.

• Other users: your profile information is visible to other users of the Service, as intended
• Service providers: including RevenueCat (subscription billing) and Heroku (website hosting), each acting as a data processor under contract with us
• App stores: Apple and Google process payment and some device data as part of app distribution and billing
• Legal and safety purposes: where required by law, or to protect the safety of our users

6. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (such as RevenueCat) may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted immediately, except where we're required to retain limited information for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention purposes.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls and secure handling of verification images, which are reviewed manually by our team rather than processed by automated or third-party AI systems.
